Details of research theme

【Title of research theme】

Development of an advanced information system to promote interdisciplinary space science research and carrying out the original scientific study using this system

In C-SODA, we collect various space science data, archive them and make them open to public users from DARTS (http://darts.isas.jaxa.jp).
We are also aiming for research for informatics and information technologies to promote interdisciplinary space science studies. The applicant will develop an advanced information system to utilize these data and/or create new data products to promote interdisciplinary space science research. These systems and/or data will be released from DARTS. He/she is also expected to carry out innovative scientific research using these new systems or datasets.

Required abilities, qualities, and experience

Doctoral degree or equivalent experiences in space science, informatics, or information technologies. He/she is expected to have sufficient experience in analyzing space science data and developing a data analysis system/web system.

Any restrictions/disadvantages for non-native Japanese speakers?

DARTS is a public data archive open to the world in English, besides few pages written in Japanese. Most users give comments and questions in English, so non-Japanese speakers will not have essntial problems in this position.

Research environment after arriving at one’s post.

In our group, there are experts on astronomy, solar physics, solar terrestrial-physics, database, and informatics, etc. The applicants can access various archival data in these fields and use high-performance computers to develop new systems.
