Research on geospace science by using the Arase (ERG) satellite and multi-point observations

Details of research theme

【Individual Research】
Research topic is expected to be space plasma physics using in-situ plasma observation data obtained by Arase (ERG) and other satellite such as MMS, THEMIS, and Geotail. Additional use of ground-based observations is also expected.

【JAXA Project】
The project researcher is expected to lead multi-point observations of geospace using the Arase satellite. The following list suggests research & development topics as well as scientific research.
• Participation in the satellite operation. Planning and carrying out coordinate observations with other satellite and ground-based observations in collaboration with the satellite operation team.
• Participation in the calibration and the data processing of the instrument teams and contribution to improve the quality of science data.

【Human resources development unique to ISAS 】
• Improving research skills in the space environment, space weather, and space plasma research (including calibration and evaluation techniques of mission instruments)
• Getting experiences of participating in satellite operations and understanding the satellite system
• Presence in the research community as the center of the future project.
