Research and development with use of the Cosmic Radiation equipments

Details of research theme

Pursuing his/her or his own research theme using cosmic radiation equipments, and supporting external users for their use of them. The X-ray beamline is the only equipment in Japan that can measure soft X-ray imaging performance of large X-ray telescopes. A thermal vacuum test equipment and mechanical environment test equipment can be evaluated for satellites such as a CubeSAT. The infrared monitor is the largest telescope in the Kanto region for research purposes. These equipments at our Sagamihara campus are provided. We expect applicants are future prospects who have the ability to develop their own satellites and mission equipments.

Required abilities,qualities, and experience

Applicants should have a PhD or ability equivalent to PhD. They should have any of the following abilities, personalities, and experience. 1) research experience related to astronomical observation or development of observational equipment. 2) R & D experience related to space science and engineering missions. 3) Flexible research attitude that is not bound by existing fields. 4) Friendly attitude to external users with her/his strong split of service.

・Contract of employment will be concluded each fiscal year.
・Applicants will not be hired as a permanent employee after the term of service.
・Employment period may be extended up to 3 years for the longest, in consideration of research evaluation every fiscal year.
