Novel Cosmochemistry from Spacecraft Returned Small-Body Samples

Details of research theme

Itokawa/Ryugu grains are spacecraft returned samples studied in most detail using coordinated analytical approaches. Comet Wild2 particles, retuned by Stardust, are also well studied returned samples. These samples have provided a wealth of information on Solar System small bodies and the Solar System. The research will focus on developing novel cosmochemistry through returned sample analysis and/or laboratory experiments to understand the formation and evolution process(es) of small bodies and the Solar System.
