Research and Development of the ’Hybrid Sabatier Reactor’

Details of research theme

【Research content carried out by the hired person himself/herself, which is unique to ISAS】
As is well known, the establishment of the human society by applying the renewable energy human society is strongly required, today. In order to realize such society, the tandem reactor by the combination of 'the low cost production of hydrogen by water electrolysis' and 'the methanation of carbon dioxided by hydrogenation' is going to be developed.

【Expected contribution to JAXA project】
This project is supported by the 'Grant of Green Innovation' of NEDO. Through this project, the researcher is going to contribute to the social demonstration by the Tokyo Gas co. ltd.
This technology will further contribute to the deep space exploration missions like Mars and Moon exploration in future.
Through the ARTEMIS Program, the space exploration is accelerating. Under this circumstances, this research will play a very important role in ISAS which is leading lunar and Mars science. The opportunity to induce the research philosophy to solve the various problem for the essential technology of ISAS will cultivate the proper researcher's mind. Furthermore, those who experience this opportunity will lead the progress of the research field to enhance the development to contribute all human society.
