Research and Development of the ’Hybrid Sabatier Reactor’

【Research content carried out by the hired person himself/herself, which is unique to ISAS】

As is well known, the establishment of the human society by applying the renewable energy human society is strongly required, today. In order to realize such society, the tandem reactor by the combination of 'the low-cost production of hydrogen by water electrolysis' and 'the methanation of carbon dioxide by hydrogenation' is going to be developed.


【Expected contribution to JAXA project】
This project is supported by the 'Grant of Green Innovation' of NEDO. Through this project, the researcher is going to contribute to the social demonstration by the Tokyo Gas co. ltd.
This technology will further contribute to the deep space exploration missions like Mars and Moon exploration in future.

Required abilities, qualities, and experience

【Capability】
Basic knowledge about the Thermodynamics and Thermochemistry is required. Especially, the knowledge about the Electrochemistry and Chemical Engineering are also very important. The capability which enables the based on the basic chemistry to develop the practical device is desirable.


【Experience】
The experience of the solvers like COMSOL and ASPENTECH is desirable.

Research environment after arriving at one’s post.

The adopted researcher will receive the support by the researcher with the experience of the R&D for the life support system under the closed environment.
All equipment like gas & water supplier, impedance analyzer, potentiostat, power supply, electric load, thermal chamber, vacuum chamber, solver like COMSOL and others are available.
The universities and national laboratories with the contract will support the research.

Employment

3 years

 

・Contract of employment will be concluded each fiscal year.
・Applicants will not be hired as a permanent employee after the term of service.
・Employment period may be extended up to 3 years for the longest, in consideration of research evaluation every fiscal year.
