Study on chemical propulsion technologies for the future interorbital transportation network

Details of research theme

ISAS/JAXA is proposing an interorbital transportation network concept that integrates space transportation and exploration to acquire the world's most advanced scientific results.

The candidates are required to contribute to the front-loading research activity on chemical propulsion technologies for the future interorbital transportation network.

 

The candidates will select some research themes related to kick stages, sounding rockets, air breather technologies.

 

Required abilities,qualities, and experience

The candidates must possess a PhD in engineering with expertise in thermo-fluid engineering related to chemical propulsion. They must have the experience of planning and carrying out experimental research. They should have experience in engine combustion tests.

Research environment after arriving at one’s post.

The candidates' main place of work is the JAXA Sagamihara campus. The candidates can access various facilities for chemical propulsion research in ISAS with academic stafff support. Additionally, they will have opportunities to use large facilities located in other departments and to participant flight experiments using a sounding rocket and reusable rocket.

・Contract of employment will be concluded each fiscal year.
・Applicants will not be hired as a permanent employee after the term of service.
・Employment period may be extended up to 3 years for the longest, in consideration of research evaluation every fiscal year.
